WHAT DOES LOVE LOOK LIKE?

If you really think about the question “what makes for a great photo?” you might get a bunch of different answers, from the camera you use to the editing done after the session. But for me, the answer is simple…. it’s “the in-between” that makes for a great photo. I might ask you to pose or smile, but what I’m really wanting are the moments right after that, when something funny happens, or your daughter runs to tackle daddy, or mom reaches down to the tickle the kids. I want to see the inside jokes and the things that make your family special. Those are the moments that we love to experience but rarely get pictures of, and I want to capture that for you. I want to capture what your love looks like.

Excluding newborns, all other sessions take place outside, in natural light environments, and here’s why.

THE FREEDOM TO BE YOURSELF
Being outdoors frees people to let loose, enjoy the fresh air, and be themselves. Run. Dance. Do a cartwheel. Smile a snaggle-toothed grin. Twirl. Climb a tree. Go for a stroll hand-in-hand. Ride a bike. Kiss. Lay in the grass. Jump in a puddle. The sky is the limit… literally. Just imagine the stories these images will be able to tell one day.

SOMETIMES LIFE IS MESSY AND UNPREDICTABLE
Studio portraits are perfectly lit, with matching outfits, cute props, and not a single hair out of place. But if my goal is to capture your story, then the environment needs to be real, raw and ever-changing. As the photographer I have to be prepared for anything, and that’s usually when the real fun begins.
